Jan 21-22 food diary-- migraine and "Snowzilla" begins

Breakfast: Leftover soup-- there weren't any noodles left, but I had broth with shrimp balls, beef balls, chicken, sliced ribeye, yu choy, bulb onion, and sugar snap peas.  Also, the last of the leftover spicy eggplant pickle, and a little packet of mustard peas.

After breakfast, I had a hellish experience involving a mammogram and getting completely, utterly, devastatingly lost in a maze of shiny, largely unmarked office buildings, resulting eventually in the migraine that had been lurking for days.  Lunch did not happen until I'd limped my way home, crawled into bed, napped, sat up again with somewhat less intense headache and drank coffee for hours, etc.  When I did eat lunch midafternoon, it consisted of some spicy peanuts, some roasted chestnuts, and some yogurt-covered raisins.

In the evening, I'd planned to cook, but still felt terrible every time I stood up, so we ordered Domino's pizza, one spinach-and-mushroom, one chicken-and-mushroom.  It took an hour and half to arrive.  We ate it while watching The Amazing Race on Amazon, with me trying to figure out how to kinda lie down on the couch while two other people are sitting on it.

Snacks: 4 cups of coffee, 2 regular, 2 decaf, with half and half.  No drink tonight either, because of the headache.

Breakfast: More soup with broth, shrimp balls, beef balls, sliced ribeye, chicken, and vegetables.  Slice of leftover pizza.

Lunch: 2 scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, La Yogurt pina colada yogurt, small Forelle pear.

Before dinner, I bake Jennifer Reese's daughter Isabel's chocolate chip cookies.  I'm not sure I agree with Reese's assertion that they are the best chocolate chip cookie in the world, but they are certainly good, and her motherly pride more than excuses any over-enthusiasm.  They are heavily salted, which I think I like, but there is something about them I don't care for-- maybe the instant coffee powder?  (The recipe calls for "espresso powder," but I couldn't find any at the grocery.)  Or maybe they really are too salty.  Anyhow, I like chocolate chip cookies, and wouldn't (didn't) turn these down.

Dinner: Madhur Jaffrey's Stir-Fried Fava Beans with Ginger, tofu in the usual way, white rice, a little bit of romaine-and-basil salad with lemon and olive oil.  I liked this fava bean recipe better than the previous one, and it was remarkably nice to have my husband (who was home for a snow day) help me shell the beans.

Snacks: 4 cups of coffee, 2 regular, 2 decaf, with half and half.  Another small piece of chicken when I was feeling faint and shaky in the afternoon.  Several globs of cookie dough.  A warm cookie before dinner.  A Red Hook IPA.  2 cookies after dinner.
